Larry rushed
through the pouring rain and into the hotel, stopping in
the lobby to look around. He took a long deep sigh as he
walked over to the desk to get his room key. As he walked
up the hall to the elevator, he looked around and figured
that the guys were still at the club. Not being in the
mood to party or be in a crowded room, he decided to just
come to the hotel and get some rest. As he got off the
elevator and turned a corner in the hall, he ran into
someone and awkwardly fell backwards.
"I'm so sorry!" Larry gasped, still on the
floor.
"It's ok Larry."
Larry looked up and saw Edge standing in front of him,
with his hand held out. He grabbed his hand and Edge
helped him up off the floor.
"Thanks."
Larry suddenly got lost in Edge's eyes, and felt a rush
down his spine.
"Larry? Are you ok?" Edge asked as he put his
hand on Larry's shoulder.
"Ye..yeah." Larry said as he shook his head.
"Alright, see ya tomorrow." Edge said as he
walked past Larry and down the hall.
Larry watched Edge until he walked into his room and shut
the door behind him. He quickly walked up the hall and
into his room, closing the door behind him.
After taking off his jacket and throwing it on the chair,
Larry paced around the room talking to himself.
"You did not just feel what you thought you felt!
You couldn't have! You have a girlfriend! Kids! No! You
don't have any other feelings for Edge other than
friendship and band mate!"
After having a brief argument with himself and a couple
drinks, Larry went to bed, instantly falling asleep.
"Larry. Larry get up."
Larry woke up to see Bono standing over him. He was so
relieved that it wasn't Edge.
"Wh..wha?"
"Get up. We have to do a soundcheck at the
arena." Bono said.
"Alright. I'll be down in 5 minutes." Larry
said as he got up.
Bono left the room and Larry quickly got dressed, styled
his hair, brushed his teeth, and rushed out the door.
"Alright Larry, you're not gonna worry about Edge.
Just don't look at or go near Edge. You'll be fine."
He said to himself as he jogged down the hall.
As Bono took the driver seat in the car, Larry quickly
jumped in the front passengers seat to avoid sitting next
to Edge in the backseat.
When they arrived at the arena, Larry quickly darted out
of the car and through the backstage door.
"What's up with Larry?" Edge asked.
"I don't know, he was fine this morning. Probly just
a little wired." Bono said.
Edge shrugged and the three of them walked into the
arena.
During the soundcheck, Larry was nervous. Bono, Adam, and
Edge could tell. Larry was concentrating on his drums,
but couldn't stop looking over at Edge. He began to just
stare at Edge, until Edge glanced over, then Larry shot
his eye sight onto a drum. Edge just gave an odd look and
went back to his guitar.
During a break, Edge noticed that Larry was sitting at
his drumkit, alone and looking lost.
"Hey." He said as he walked over to him.
"Ha..hey." Larry stammered as he turned his
head slightly away from Edge.
"Are you alright? You seemed a little distracted
earlier."
"Yeah, I'm fine." Larry said before he got up
and walked away, leaving Edge totally lost.
After the soundcheck was over, the guys went back to the
hotel for some rest. Larry went right into his room, and
tried to get some rest to clear his mind.
Meanwhile, Edge had stopped by Adam's room.
"Hey, did you notice anything odd about Larry
today?" Edge said as he and Adam sat down at the
table.
"Yeah, I did actually." Adam replied.
"I tried to talk to him, but he just walked
away." Edge said with a sigh.
"Maybe he's just home sick." Adam suggested as
he adjusted his glasses.
"Could be. I'll try talking to him later. After the
concert tonight." Edge suggested.
"Yeah, that might cheer him up." Adam said as
Edge left the room.
Edge walked up the hall to his room when he stopped in
front of Larry's door. He could hear Larry playing his
conga. Larry liked to tap his conga to relieve stress.
Only, it didn't sound like he was tapping it, more like
he was beating the hell out of it. Edge raised his hand
to knock on his door, but didn't and went back to his
room.
Later that during
the concert, Larry seemed much better. He was pounding
his drums harder than usual, but he seemed relaxed. He
was also smiling the entire time and even singing some of
the songs under his breath. During Beautiful Day, Edge
looked over and saw Larry smiling and singing. He smiled
, having the thought that Larry was happy and having a
good time. During the rest of the concert Larry acted
totally carefree. Except when they did With Or Without
You. Larry didn't give one hint of a smile, and he didn't
sing. Seeing this, Edge sighed and decided that he was
going to have that talk with Larry after all.
After the concert ended, Edge headed backstage to Larry's
dressing room. He knocked on the door two times and
waited for a response.
"Larry?"
No one answered. Edge quietly opened the door and walked
in.
"Dammit." He said when he didn't see Larry
anywhere in sight.
Edge sighed as he closed the door and headed towards the
exit of the arena.
Back at the hotel, Larry paced nervously back and forth
in his toom. He forehead started to sweat and he was
shaking all over. He stumbled as he grabbed his conga and
rushed over to the couch. He began to bang on the conga,
but the banging slowly changed to a light tapping as he
calmed down. Larry suddenly shot his head up when he
heard a knock on the door.
"Larry?" Edge asked from outside the door.
Larry sighed. "Why Edge? Why now?" He whispered
to himself.
"Larry, are you in there?"
"Yeah, come in." Larry answered with a sigh.
Edge walked and saw Larry sitting on the couch with a
depressed look on his face. He sighed as he closed the
door behind him and sat down next to Larry.
"Are you alright?" Edge asked him.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Larry answered, looking at
the floor.
"No you're not. Something's bothering you. What's
wrong?" Edge said, putting his hand on Larry's
shoulder.
"Nothing!" Larry snapped.
"Larry, something has to be bothering you. I mean,
you've been acting weird all day!" Edge sighed.
Larry looked up at Edge. He had been avoiding him all
day, and he knew that it was starting to annoy him.
"It's just that..." He trailed off and looked
at the floor again.
"Larry? What is it?" Edge asked, starting to
worry.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, Larry began to kiss Edge. Edge
was stunned, but didn't feel uncomfortable. To Larry's
surprise, Edge was kissing him back. Edge pulled Larry
closer to him, picked him up and carried him over to the
bed. Larry wrapped his arms tightly around Edge's back as
Edge started to unbutton Larry's shirt.
Suddenly, Edge stopped kissing Larry and undoing his
shirt, and just looked at Larry.
"Wh..what's wrong? Why did you stop?" Larry
asked.
"I..I can't do this!" Edge stammered as he
walked towards the door.
"Edge! Wait!" Larry pleaded.
"I'm sorry Larry! I just can't!" Edge said as
he closed the door behind him.
Tears began to fill Larry's eyes as he thought about what
just happened, and what Edge could do. Would he tell Bono
and Adam? Leave the band? Larry didn't know. He covered
his whole body under his blanket and began to cry.
Edge raced through
the halls of the hotel to get to a room. He didn't care
who's room he ended up in, he just wanted to get into a
bed, and make everything go away. He knew where he was
going though. He tripped at a door and then opened it and
stumbled into the dark room and fell on his hands and
knees.
"Christ!" Bono yelled as he sprung up from his
bed and turned the light on.
He looked over to the floor, where Edge was, sweaty,
panting and gasping for breath.
"Edge? What the hell, are you alright?" Bono
asked as he rushed over to Edge.
Edge finally calmed down and started to breath at a
normal rate as he stared at the floor.
"Edge? What's wrong?" Bono asked as he knelt
down beside Edge.
Edge didn't say a word. How could he? He just stared at
the floor, thinking about what happened with Larry, and
began to shake and sweat again.
"Edge? What's going on? Have you been
drinking?" Bono asked. as he put his hand on Edge's
shoulder.
"No I haven't been fucking drinking!" Edge
snapped, shaking uncontrollably.
Bono pulled away and then noticed Edge's condition and
started to worry.
"Edge, you should go to bed." Bono said as he
helped Edge up.
Being in the state that he was, Edge didn't argue. Bono
helped him over to the spare bed and helped him lay down.
He covered Edge up with a blanket and squeezed his
shoulder. He could feel how nervous and tense he was.
Bono didn't say another word. He crawled into his bed and
turned the light out.
Hiding from the world under his blanket, Larry tossed and
turned. He couldn't sleep. Crying himself to sleep didn't
work, he couldn't cry anymore. On the one hand, he was
relieved that Edge knew how he felt. On the other, he was
scared. He couldn't sleep, he didn't want to stay awake,
he couldn't even tap the conga for comfort. All he could
do was worry. Did Edge tell anyone? Would Edge break up
U2 and never talk to him again? Was Edge on a plane right
now on his way back to Ireland? Larry knew perfectly well
that Edge was indeed still in the hotel, but he couldn't
stop the horrible ideas from rushing through his mind. In
the back of his mind, he knew that Edge would never
forget what he had done. Larry felt tears build up as he
pulled his blanket tighter over his head.
Meanwhile, in the other room, Bono tossed and turned in
his bed. He couldn't sleep. He knew that something was
wrong with Edge. He rolled onto his back and stared at
the dark ceiling and sighed. He looked over at Edge, who
was sound asleep. This calmed Bono down a bit, but he
still felt uneasy about earlier. He wished that Edge
would just talk to him, tell him what's wrong. He knew
that Edge wouldn't. Edge was not one to tell other people
his problems. Bono gave out a worried sigh as he rolled
over on his side. He eventually fell asleep.
Larry paced back
and forth in his room as he tried to get ready to go. He
didn't want to face Edge yet, not at a meet and greet.
Not around fans and Bono and Adam. He just couldn't.
Suddenly, Adam walked in.
"Ready?" He asked.
"Yeah." Larry said as he followed Adam out of
the room and into the hall where Bono was standing.
"Where's Edge?" Adam asked.
Both Adam and Larry looked at Bono.
"Edge isn't feeling too well, so I told him to stay
in and sleep." Bono said calmly.
Larry felt a rush of relief come over him, and then a
rush of concern. Did Edge go out and do something last
night after he left? He shook his head and cleared his
mind, and followed Bono and Adam down the hall trying to
clear his mind.
Edge woke up to the sound of a car horn outside. As he
rubbed his forehead he looked at the clock sitting on the
nightstand. 1:30. The guys wouldn't be back for another
hour and a half. Edge contemplated whether he should just
go back to sleep, or get up and go do something. After a
few minutes he got up and headed for the door. He stopped
when he noticed a small frame with a picture of Larry,
Bono, Adam and himself in it. He stared at it with a
blank expression, and left the room.
Two hours later, Bono, Larry, and Adam finally got back
to the hotel. Since they all had the day off, except for
the meet and greet, they all decided to just lounge
around the hotel for the day and rest up.
"Do you guys wanna go up in my room, and we can
decided what to do then?" Adam asked as they walked
into the hotel.
Bono and Larry nodded as they made their way to the
elevator. Bono caught a quick glimpse of the lobby and
saw Edge sitting on one of the couches reading a book.
"I'll be right up." He said to Larry and Adam
as he walked over to where Edge was.
Edge didn't notice Bono until he felt him sit down next
to him.
"Hey." He said.
"Hey. How are ya feeling?" Bono asked.
"Better. Thanks for last night."
"No problem. Um, Larry, Adam, and I are gonna head
upstairs and do something. Wanna come?" Bono asked.
"Nah, this book is getting interesting." Edge
replied.
"Alright, I'll catch ya later." Bono said as he
got up and started walking towards the elevator.
Edge nestled into the couch and continued to read.
Edge finally closed
his book and looked around the lobby. There was no one
else around. This for some odd reason, freaked him out
and he quickly got up and headed for the elevator. As he
stepped of the elevator and walked up the hall he glanced
at a clock hanging on the wall.
"Ugh. 11 O'clock. That took way too long to
read." He said to himself as he walked tiredly up
the hall. Adam, Larry, and Bono would surely be in bed,
where he should be, he thought to himself. As he walked
past Larry's door he noticed that it was open a little.
He walked back to the door and nudged it open a little.
"Larry?" He said as he peaked inside.
Larry, who was sitting on his bed with a magazine, jumped
a little when he saw Edge.
"Edge..h..hi.." He stammered.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to disturb you. Can I come
in?"
"Um..yeah, sure." Larry said nervously.
Edge closed the door behind him as he walked over to
Larry and sat next to him on the bed.
Neither of them said a word. Larry stared at the floor
and Edge stared at the wall.
"So..how was the meet and greet?" Edge asked,
trying to make conversation.
"Good." Larry said quickly.
Both of them fell silent again. Larry was dying to ask
Edge a million questions and Edge tried to figure what to
say.
"Why did you leave last night?" Larry suddenly
asked.
Edge just looked at him. He knew what he wanted to say,
but he couldn't figure out how to put it.
"Larry, about last night, I wasn't exactly sure what
I was doing." He said.
"How can you say you didn't know what you were
doing? You kissed me. Carried me over to the bed. You
Unbuttoned my shirt!" Larry protested.
"You kissed me first!"
"You kissed me back! Now just tell me why you
left!"
"Larry, don't do this. Not now." Edge sighed.
"I have to know now! Why did you just leave?!"
"Larry don't." Edge pleaded.
"Tell me!" Larry said.
"I'm afraid of getting hurt!" Edge blurted out
as he ran out the door.
Larry remained seated on the bed, with a confused and sad
look on his face.
Hearing yelling coming from the other side of the wall,
Bono woke up and was about to call the room to complain,
when he remembered that the room next to his was Larry's.
He got up and stood next to his door. He heard someone
run down the hall and past his room. Opening the door a
little bit to see who it was, Bono saw that it was Edge
who was running down the hall. Bono sighed as he closed
the door. Something was up with Edge, and he knew it. He
quickly changed into a pair of pants and a shirt and
slipped his boots on, grabbed his jacket and walked out
of the room.
Bono walked through the lobby of the hotel and outside.
He wrapped his jacket around himself as a gust of cold
wind blew. He finally noticed Edge sitting on a bench
nearby, with his head in his hands and walked towards
him. He stopped walking when he noticed a tear fall down
the side of Edge's face. Not only a tear, but Edge was
crying uncontrollably. He was a mess and Bono didn't know
what to do.
"Edge." He said simply.
Edge looked up at Bono, his face was full of tears and he
looked miserable.
"What's wrong?" Bono sighed as he sat down on
the bench.
"Nothing. I'm fine." Edge said as he dried his
eyes with his sleeves.
"Edge, don't give me that. You're out here crying
your eyes out, you were a mess yesterday, and you haven't
been youself lately." Bono said.
Edge looked at him with a confused and sad look. Bono was
right. He was a mess and he haven't been himself at all.
"I'm here for you Edge. I'm here to listen and to
talk. Now please, talk to me. I'm worried about
you."
Edge rubbed his face with his hands and sighed out loud.
"Edge?"
"Everything is going wrong." Edge finally said
after a long pause.
"Like what?" Bono asked.
"Just everything. Things with Morleigh aren't
working out, I haven't been able to write any new lyrics,
or do a thing with the ones that you've given me. Plus, I
can't even pick up my guitar and try new chords out
without having an urge to throw the bloody thing out the
window." Edge sobbed.
Bono put his arm around Edge. He didn't know what to say
to him.
"And to top that off, I'm having problems with
Larry." Edge blurted without thinking.
"With Larry? What kind of problems?"
"The work. We can't agree on anything, and when we
finally think we do, we start to fight again." Edge
lied. He didn't want to tell Bono. Not yet.
"I wish I could help you. I really do." Bono
said.
"You do help. You listen."
Bono let out a small and quick smile. Edge wiped his eyes
once more and got up off the bench.
"Thanks Bono. For everything. I'm gonna go upstairs
and get some sleep." Edge said.
"Alright." Bono whispered as Edge walked away.
Bono didn't go up, he felt uneasy. He sat on the bench
and thought for about fifteen minutes until he decided to
go back to his room.
The sun shined
brightly on Larry's face through the hotel window as the
alarm clock went off.
"Hell." He mumbled as he reached over to turn
the clock off.
He was lucky if he got at least two hours of sleep last
night. He gave a tired sigh as he got up out of his bed.
Thank go we're leaving this hotel, he thought. He could
just stay on the bus in his bunk all day and sleep. He
could relax and have a decent reason for not wanting to
see Edge, or anyone for that matter.
Outside the hotel, Adam was the frist one to get on the
bus, as usual. He nestled on the couch and began to read
a newspaper and sip on his coffee. A few minutes later,
Larry walked in.
"Hey." Adam said as he looked up from his
newspaper.
"Hey." Larry replied as he walked back into the
bunk area of the bus. Just then, Edge with guitar case
and backpack in hand, and Bono walked onto the bus.
Edge sat his guitar case down on the floor and glanced
around the room.
"Where's Larry?" He asked.
"In his bunk. Sleeping no doubt." Adam anwered.
"Oh."
"If we don't disturb you Adam, Edge and I are gonna
try to work on a few songs." Bno said.
"Go ahead." Adam said as he looked over at the
bunks. "I'm gonna go check something anyway."
Adam walked off to the back of the bus where the bunks
were.
"So, are you feeling any better?" Bono asked
Edge as he pulled his notebook out of his bag.
"Yeah, I think that I might actually be able to do
something with this thing." Edge said as he picked
up his guitar out of the case.
Bono smiled as he flipped through his notebook to the
lyrics he wanted as Edge strummed a few chords on his
guitar.
Meanwhile, Adam walked to the bunk area as the bus
started to move and stopped and sat down next to Larry's
bunk. He knew that Larry wasn't sleeping, he didn't hear
him snoring or anything.
"Larry?"
No one responded, but Adam knew that Larry wasn't so
quiet when he slept.
"Larry, I know you're not asleep." He said.
"Go away Adam." Larry said from behind the bunk
curtain.
"Larry, are you alright?" Adam sighed.
"I'm fine, just tired. Now please let me
sleep."
"Alright." Adam said as he walked away.
Adam walked up to the front of the bus where Edge and
Bono were hard at work writing lyrics and chords.
"Everything ok back there?" Bono asked.
"Yeah, Larry's just tired, I guess." Adam said
as he sat back down on the couch and grabbed his
newspaper.
Edge didn't say a word. He wasn't in the mood to talk
about Larry, or anything of that matter. He just wanted
to work on the music.
Larry woke up when
the bus came to a stop. He got out of his bunk and rubbed
his forehead as he walked through the bus. He noticed
Edge asleep on a couch in the front of the bus, frowned
and walked out of the bus and into yet another hotel.
"Another bleedin' hotel." He sighed.
When he walked into his hotel room, he fell right onto
his bed and sighed. He didn't even know what was going on
today. If there was even a show or not, any meet and
greets, anything. Suddenly, Bono walked into his room.
"Hey."
"Hey." Larry said as he looked up.
"What are you up to?"
"Nothing. Do you have any idea as to what's going on
today? I'm so clueless." Larry said.
Bono sighed. He remembered the talk that he had with Edge
before, and how Edge had mentioned he was having problems
with Larry.
"Nothing. We have off." He said.
"Oh."
Larry and Bono didn't say anything. Bono wanted to ask
what the deal was, but held back.
"Are you ok with Edge?" Bono asked.
Larry looked up at Bono. What did Edge tell him?
"Yeah, why?"
"He just mentioned that you and him were having some
problems. With the music and stuff."
"Oh, yeah. That. It's passing." Larry said with
a sigh of relief.
"Ok, well, I think I'm gonna go to my room and call
Ali, or something." Bono said as he walked out of
the room.
Larry fell back onto his bed and sighed.
"Good. I can sleep all day."
Meanwhile, Edge was searching through his bag, looking
for something to amuse himself with in his room. After
digging out his discman, multiple notebooks, pens, CD's,
and other multiple things, he found a book at the bottom
of his bag. He looked at the book, shrugged, and walked
out of his room to find somewhere nice to read.
Edge yet again found himself in a lobby of a hotel
reading his book. He contently sat in one of the chairs
and read his book.
At the same time, Larry walked into the lobby with Bono
and Adam. He noticed Edge sitting on a chair reading and
sighed. He couldn't keep bottling his emotions up inside
of himself. He turned for where Edge was sitting and
walked over as Bono went outside with his phone and Adam
went off somewhere.
Larry sat down on the couch next to Edge's chair and
tried not to disturb him.
"Hi." He said.
"Hey." Edge said as he glanced up from his
book.
Larry just looked at Edge, who went back to reading his
book.
"Edge, why haven't we talked?" Larry asked.
Edge simply shrugged without looking up from his book.
"Edge, we really should talk about this."
"I'm not in the mood to talk right now." Edge
said as he got up.
"Don't walk away from me, Edge. I know you have more
respect for me than that." Larry said.
Edge looked at Larry, sighed and sat back down and waited
to hear what Larry wanted to say.
"You already know how I feel about you, Edge, but
I'm not sure how you feel about me. And I need to know
how you feel about this, and why you keep avoiding
me." Larry said.
Edge just stared into space and sighed.
"Yeah Larry, I know how you feel about me. And I
think I'm starting to feel the same about you, and a part
of me wants to make this work and another part of me
doesn't." He said.
"Why don't you? And why did you that you were afraid
of getting hurt the other night?" Larry asked.
"I'm sorry I just left like that Larry, but I was
afraid of getting hurt." Edge took a deep sigh.
"Things aren't going well with Morleigh."
Larry just looked at Edge. He had no idea that Edge was
having problems with Morleigh. He never showed it.
"So that's why." Edge said as he got up and
left.
Larry just sat there, a million different thoughts racing
through his mind. What now?
Edge walked out of
the hotel through a side entrance, knowing that Bono was
outside in front of the main entrance and that he would
undoubtly want to talk to Edge if he knew that he was
upset. Edge just wanted to walk and think. Walking
relaxed him when he was tense.
As he walked the streets of the city, he thought about
almost everything that was wrong with him. Most of all,
he thought about Larry. He couldn't keep him hanging like
this, but he didn't know what to do. He just wanted to
get away and think.
Edge eventually found his way into a park. Finding that
it wasn't too crowded he smiled and sat on a bench.
Watching the people pass him by, he had forgotten about
everything that was bothering him just a few minutes ago.
Then suddenly Larry popped into his mind. He just
couldn't get Larry out of his head. No matter what he did
or where he went, he thought about Larry. Edge wasn't
sure if he wanted to just go with it and embrace Larry
with his feelings, or just let it pass. He couldn't just
ignore this. It was bigger than that. It was bigger than
Larry and him in general. Edge layed down on the bench
and just stared at the trees above him. He started to
dose off, but tried to keep himself awake. He eventually
feel asleep on the bench.
Back at the hotel Bono walked up the halls of the hotel
until he reached Edge's room. He didn't even bother
knocking, he just walked right into the room.
"Edge, I have some more of those lyri.."
Bono paused when he saw that the room was empty and that
he was talking to himself. He left the room and walked
down into the lobby of the hotel, where Larry was still
sitting. He walked over to Larry and sat down next to
him, hoping that Larry knew where Edge was. Larry looked
up and didn't say anything.
"Larry, have you seen Edge anywhere?" Bono
asked him.
"No, not since earlier this afternoon." Larry
replied.
"Do you know where he went?"
"No, but he went that way. Why?" Larry said as
he pointed to the side door of the hotel.
"I have some lyrics for him." Bono said as he
sighed and got up and walked out of the lobby, forgetting
his notebook on the table. Larry paused for a moment then
picked up the notebook and started to read some of the
lyrics. After a few minutes, he got bored with it, sat it
back down on the table and headed back to his room.
Meanwhile at the park, Edge woke up to the sound of
passing cars. He looked around and tried to remember
where he was. After being lazy and just sitting around
for a few minutes, he got up and started to walk off. As
he walked, he finally decided on what he wanted to do
with Larry. He smiled with satisfaction as he neared the
hotel. As he walked past the lobby, he noticed a notebook
sitting on the table.
"This is Bono's." He said to himself as he
picked it up.
He shrugged and took the notebook with him as he headed
for Bono's room.
Edge walked up the
hall of the hotel to Bono's room and peeked in the
doorway.
"Bono?" He called.
No one answered. He shrugged and pushed the door open a
little and walked in. He walked around the room a little,
observing the various magazines on the dresser, a
suitcase, and a few soda cans near the trash can. He
grinned and chuckled when he saw a shirt hanging in
Bono's closet that had 'Rockstar' written on it. That was
just too much irony. Edge sat down on the bed with the
notebook and decided to just wait for Bono. After about
fifteen minutes, Bono finally walked into the room,
exhausted from his walk, that turned into a run five
minutes into it.
"Oh, hi. What's up?" He said when he looked up
and noticed Edge sitting on his bed.
"Hey. I found your notebook down in the lobby."
Edge said as Bono sat down next to him.
"Damn, someone could've taken it! Thanks!" Bono
said as he put it in the drawer of the nightstand that
was by the bed.
"So where were you all day?" Bono asked.
"At the park, thinking."
"Thinking about what?"
"Nothing in particular." Edge lied.
Bono glanced at the clock sitting on the dresser and
yawned.
"I should get some sleep, I was running all over the
place today." He said.
As Bono got up off the bed, his tired leg let out and he
fell back onto the bed, right on top of Edge.
"Erk. Sleep, that would do you some good." Edge
said as he tried to move.
"Ya think?" Bono said with some sarcasm before
he and Edge laughed.
At that same time, Larry was walking up the hall to his
own room when he heard laughing coming from Bono's room.
He walked past the room and caught a quick glimpse
inside, and then did a double take at what he saw.
"Edge?! Bono?!" He shrieked.
Bono and Edge looked up at Larry, who was standing in the
doorway with a horrible look on his face.
"Larry! Oh god!" Edge gasped when he finally
realised how he and Bono were positioned.
Bono just stared in a state of confusion as Larry ran out
of the room and as Edge jumped off the bed.
"Larry wait!" Edge called as he ran out of the
room.
Larry ran down the hall as he wiped a tear away from his
eye. He quickly passed his room and kept on running. When
he finally got to Adam's room, he ran in and slammed the
door behind him.
"Larry? What the hell.."
"If Edge asks where I am, I'm not here!" Larry
said as he ran into the bathroom and closed the door
behind him.
"What the..Larry? What are you talking about?!"
Adam asked, confused as to what was going on.
"Just do it!"
Adam was about to ask Larry something before Edge rushed
into the room.
"Did you see Larry anywhere?!" He asked
quickly.
Adam paused and thought for a moment.
"No. Is everything alright?"
"Yeah, just fine." Edge said as he was halfway
out of the door.
Soon after, Larry walked out of the bathroom and into the
other room, where Adam was standing there looking at him.
"What's going on?" Adam demanded.
"Nothing."
"Don't tell me nothing. You just came storming into
my room and into my bathroom, obviously trying to avoid
Edge. Now what's wrong?" Adam stated as he sat down
on the couch.
Larry sighed as he sat down next to Adam. He thought
about how to put what he wanted to say into words.
"I love Edge." He said after a few minutes.
"Of course you love Edge. We all do..."
"No, I mean I love Edge." Larry said, with a
more serious tone.
"Oh god." Adam was shocked. He didn't know what
to say.
"Does he know?"
"Yes, but I don't know if he feels the same
way." Larry answered.
Adam didn't say anything. He couldn't say anything. Both
he and Larry fell silent for a few minutes.
"Did you know that he was having problems with
Morleigh?" Larry finally asked.
"No, he never mentioned. When did he tell you?"
"The other night when we were fighting."
"You guys were fighting?" Adam asked.
"Yeah."
Larry sighed as he stared into space. Adam didn't know
what to say to comfort Larry. He just put his hand on
Larry's shoulder and tried to think of something to say
to him.
"Maybe you should go to sleep." He suggested.
"I guess. Edge should be on the other side of the
hotel by now." Larry said with a sigh as he got up.
Adam sighed as he watched Larry shut the door behind him.
He wondered if Bono knew.
"Of course he does. Larry tells him
everything." He said to himself as he got into his
own bed and turned out the light.
"Cause you're
everywhere to meee."
"And when I close my eyes it's you I see."
"You're everything I know that makes me
believe..."
"I'm not aloooone!"
Larry reached over and smacked the alarm clock on the
dresser next to his bed.
"That bloody song.." He mumbled as he got up.
As he walked over to his closet, Larry looked out the
window of his room. How could he feel so miserable on
such a nice day like today? After picking out a shirt, he
walked over to the window and closed the shades.
"Nice day indeed."
Larry continued to get ready to meet the guys. Putting
new music together with them always relaxed him, even if
he did have tension with one of them. They always seemed
to get over their problems while making music. As he left
his room, Larry hoped that today would be one of those
days, if he could ever approach Edge.
Meanwhile, Edge and Adam walked onto the tour bus, Edge
with a guitar and Adam with a bass in hand. Since they
were only jamming, they didn't see the point in renting a
stuido and found the bus just as good of a place to work.
As Edge and Adam strummed their instruments, Bono walked
in and sat down next to Edge and got out his notebook
filled with lyrics.
"Do you know what was up with Larry last
night?" Bono whispered to Edge.
"No, we're just having another one of our little
arguments." Edge said as he strummed on his guitar
and wrote tabs on a piece of paper.
"Are you guys ok?" Bono asked.
"Yeah." Edge lied.
Just then, Larry walked onto the bus. He saw Bono and
Edge sitting next to eachother, sighed, and sat next to
Adam. As Bono opened flipped through his notebook, he
noticed that Edge and Larry weren't making any eye
contact at all. He really didn't think nothing of it and
continued to read over some of the changes that Edge made
on some of his lyrics.
After almost a half hour, Edge and Larry still didn't
look at eachother. By then Bono was annoyed.
"What's going on?" He asked out of the blue.
Adam, Edge and Larry looked up from their work at Bono.
"Huh?" Larry asked.
"Don't give me that, Larry. What's going on between
you guys?" Bono asked as he looked at Larry and then
at Edge.
"Nothing!" Edge said.
"Oh come on Edge! Like I haven't noticed what's been
going on the past couple of days." Bono snapped.
Adam just sat there. There was really nothing he could
say about either side.
"Nothing's going on!" Edge stated.
"Edge! Stop lying to me! You've been lying to me for
days now! I know something's up. You guys always got over
your little fights in less than an hour at times. Now
what's going on?!" Bono demanded.
"Nothing's going on dammit!" Edge yelled as he
got up and headed for the door.
"Where are you going?" Adam called after him.
"A walk!" Edge yelled before slamming the door.
"God dammit!" Bono yelled.
"I knew I shouldn't have gotten out of bed
today!" Larry said with a pissed off sigh as he left
the bus.
Bono sighed, and Adam didn't say a word. He thought that
Bono knew what was going on between Edge and Larry.
"I don't know what's up with those two! It's like
their keeping a huge secret from me!" Bono sighed.
"I just don't think Edge was ready for what Larry
did." Adam said.
"Huh? Not ready for what?" Bono asked,
confused.
"Oh god, they didn't tell you? I thought they
would've told you!"
"Tell me what?"
"I really didn't want to be the one to tell
you.."
"Tell me for god's sake!"
"Larry is in love with Edge." Adam said with a
sigh.
"Oh god. I hope Edge knows." Bono said.
"Yeah, he does. And they've been fighting ever since
Larry told him."
"So that's why Edge came to my room the other
night." Bono said as he got up and headed for the
door.
"Where are you going?" Adam asked.
"To find Edge. I have to talk to him." Bono
said as the door closed behind him.
Larry slammed the
door as he stormed into his room and fell onto his bed.
Outside he could hear people talking happily on the deck
under his room. Not being in the mood to hear it, he
pulled his blanket over his head and tried to fall
asleep. What else could he do? As he drifted off to
sleep, thoughts of Edge filled his mind. He had no idea
as to what was going to happen, but was half asleep and
didn't worry about it.
As Edge walked down the same streets as he did the other
day, he couldn't get Larry, or what just happened out of
his head. He was getting sick of always running away when
nothing went right. As he turned the corner, he came
across the same park that he stopped at before. He sighed
as he sat on a bench and just watched the scenes around
him. This time he didn't fall asleep. He was too busy
thinking.
At that same time, Bono turned the same corner and saw
Edge sitting on a park bench and walked over to him. As
he sat down next to him, Edge just looked at him with a
blank look. Edge knew that Bono would ask him about what
happened.
"Edge..what's going on?" Bono asked.
Edge didn't say anything. He just let out a deep sigh.
"Edge?"
"I don't know. I don't know what's going on
anymore." Edge said.
Bono just stared at the ground.
"I know what happened to you and Larry. And I know
what's going on." He said.
Edge looked up at him with a stunned and some what
relieved look.
"How did you find out?"
"Adam told me."
Again, Edge didn't say anything.
"Edge, I know that you're having a hard time right
now. You're not sure what you want to do with
Larry..?" Bono asked.
"That's just the thing, I do know what I want to do
with him." Edge said and then paused.
"Go on." Bono insisted.
"Larry is very important to me. He gave me the
chance to be in a band, he is a great friend, and I just
get this wonderful feeling whenever I'm around him."
Edge said.
"Then I think you know what to do." Bono said
as he put his hand on Edge's shoulder.
Edge simply nodded as he got up and walked off with Bono.
It was dark out by
the time Bono and Edge finally got back to the hotel. As
they walked in, Bono saw Adam sitting in the lobby with a
newspaper. He knew that Edge had to do what he was about
to do by himself. Bono couldn't go with him.
"Are you gonna be alright?" He asked.
"Yeah." Edge barely whispered.
Bono squeazed Edge's should before Edge walked up the
hall, and then walked over to where Adam was sitting.
"Oh, hey." Adam said when he noticed Bono.
"Hey." Bono said blankly.
"So..did you find Edge?"
"Yeah, we talked for a while. I think he's gonna be
ok."
"So, they're ok?"
"Yeah, they're gonna be alright." Bono said as
he sat back.
Up in his room, Larry was laying on his bed, with nothing
on his mind but Edge, and if he was alright. Trying to
clear his mind, he turned on the radio sitting on the
dresser next to his radio. As soon as he did, the
familiar tune of 'With Or Without You' filled the room.
"Oh god. Not that song, not now." Larry said to
himself.
He layed on his bed, worried and lost. Suddenly, there
was a knocking at his door.
"What?" He called.
He wasn't in the mood to talk to or see anyone.
"Larry? Can I come in?"
Larry looked up at the door with a hopefull look.
"Yeah." He answered.
The door slowly opened and Edge walked into the room and
closed the door behind himself. Larry didn't say
anything. He couldn't find any words.
"Larry, the past few days have been rough. Very
rough." Edge said as he sat down next to Larry on
the bed.
Larry simply nodded.
"And I know that I've been giving you mixed signals
about what's been going on between us..and I.."
Edge paused for a moment and thought about what he was
going to say. Larry just waited. He didn't know if Edge
was going to accept the fact that Larry was in love with
him, or if he would just tell him off.
"And I want to make this work." Edge said.
Larry just looked at Edge for a moment.
"Really?"
"Yes, I love you, Larry." Edge said.
Larry just hugged Edge. There were no words to describe
how happy and relieved he was.
Edge wrapped his arms around Larry as they layed down
together under the covers on the bed. Larry turned the
light out and nestled under the covers with Edge. He felt
safe and warm with him. He was finally at peace, with
Edge, his love.
